EASTER EGGS, ENTERTAINING AND ENJOYMENT - A Guide to the perfect Easter!
I’ve always loved Easter, it’s a holiday from school & work but, unlike Christmas, although you might be entertaining, the whole affair is far less stressful.
I’m extremely affected by the seasons but I’m definitely a Spring & Summer girl and get excited at the first signs of Spring peeking through. At the earliest possible time I put my winter candles away and get my fresh cotton & spring scents out to fill our home with Spring aromas. Daffodils are one of my favourite flowers as they symbolise new beginnings, so my house is always filled with them and everyone who knows me brings me daffodils when they come around. I love a seasonal wreath on my door and my Spring wreath, filled with beautiful Spring flowers, is placed lovingly on our front door, then towards Easter I get my Easter decorations out. Obviously it’s nothing like my Christmas decorations but I do like a few pieces here and there such as a lovely Easter wreath centrepiece on my table and a table top Easter tree.
Easter
treats are also a naughty favourite of ours & my cake stand is always
overflowing with Hot Cross Buns.
Top tips for a perfect Easter
1.
Plan ahead – Like any special occasion, a good old-fashioned list and
planning ahead of time is essential.
2.
Plan your menus – However, keep it simple at Easter. It’s much more fun
for you too if you’re not spending hours in the kitchen whilst everyone else
has fun.
3.
Order your food or plan your food shop – Being British, the first sniff
of a national holiday & everyone shops like supermarkets are going out of
fashion so plan which day you’ll be doing your food shop or get your online
slot booked in good time.
4.
Give your house a Spring makeover – No it’s not as crazy as Christmas but
a few Easter touches like a Spring wreath, spring flowers & table centres are
perfect to feel the joy of Spring & get into the Easter spirit.
5.
Fill your house with Spring Flowers – Daffodils, tulips, Hyacinths &
Primroses all look beautiful in the garden and around the home.
6.
Buy your Easter Eggs in good time – The best ones sell out quickly so
don’t leave it too late, especially if you have children in your family.
7.
Prepare any games & Easter Egg hunts for the younger members of the
family – Who doesn’t love a good old-fashioned Easter egg hunt?!!
8.
Do any baking or prepare food ahead of time – If you have younger
children you can also turn this into a
fun & educational pre Easter activity.
9.
Create a Spring tablescape – Whether your style is rustic, cute,
traditional or floral, a beautiful spring tablescape for Easter entertaining
sets the scene for a perfect Easter lunch.
10.Plan a family walk for Easter
Monday – Hopefully the weather is improving and a Spring walk in the beautiful
countryside cannot be beaten. I’m very lucky to have stunning countryside &
and amazing views in my home county of West Yorkshire & a dog walk at this
time of year is the perfect tonic.
