SPRING NEW YEAR NEW ME!
I know it’s a cliché, but I absolutely love the start of a New Year! I love new beginnings, setting goals, writing lists and this January was no different.
I always make a list of goals I want to achieve
in the year & last year I achieved most of them. I also write a list of
books I want to read, I aim for 2 a month but last year it was closer to 4 a
month and I loved it.
Last year was a good year of self-growth & self-development
for me and I plan to continue this in 2023. I’ve got into a good morning
routine of gratitude, meditation, exercise, affirmations and a healthy
breakfast followed by a dog walk & I’ve realised the importance of daily self-care,
exercise, time outdoors & time for myself no matter how busy I am.
Last year was an extremely busy year for me and
this year my diary is already full but, by ensuring I took a little time for
myself each day made it so much better & I was much calmer in myself.
I’m also in the early stages of perimenopause
so I’m seeing & feeling lots of changes so self-care is even more important
these days.
I can’t stress how important it is to look
after yourself and especially as you’re heading towards menopause but looking
after your mind & soul is as important as looking after your body.
I do, however feel like there’s a lot of
pressure with New Years resolutions as, Winter before Christmas is all festive
fun & twinkly lights but, Winter after Christmas is just a long stretch of
cold, drab, dark nights. I don’t know about you but I, even as a motivated
person, have very little motivation in January and therefore, these resolutions
& motivated attitude can be really hard to keep in early January, making
you feel like a failure before the year has barely begun.
Spring however is just wonderful to me!!!
Spring means new beginnings, lighter nights, the promise of better weather, all
which instantly make me feel so much more motivated. To me, this is a much
better time of year to start new goals, make resolutions, declutter &
Spring clean your home. There’s a ‘Spring’ in the air, pardon the pun, and
everything and everyone feel so much more positive.
This is the time of year I get my motivation
& ‘mojo’ back and I’m ready to face the world.
I guess there’s something to be said for animals
hibernating in the Winter &, although we can’t hibernate, I know I for one,
feel like cocooning myself in the warmth of my home & family. It’s cold out
and I want to be cosy & snuggle. I think it’s all about knowing your own
cycle & for me, Spring is my most productive time of year. I’ve always
adored Spring but, it’s taken me to my late 40’s to realise why and now I’m
working with my body & mind to do what feels natural to me & my New
Year is definitely in ‘Spring’s new beginnings’!
