LIFESTYLE, LEISURE, PLACES & HOME
London life!
Max & I spent a lovely 2 days in London to celebrate the end of his GCSE’s. I adore this city to visit and try to go at least a couple of times a year. For Max & I ‘Back to the Future the musical’ was the order of the day on day 1 followed by dinner at Hard Rock Café Piccadilly. The show was fabulous and definitely one to watch if you’re a musical lover & lover of the film as we are. Hard Rock Café does what it says on the tin with it’s overpriced burgers & fries!!! But it was Max’s choice and the atmosphere was great.
Day 2 started with a lovely breakfast
followed by a fabulous cable car ride across the Thames – such a lovely
experience & very reasonably priced. After a light lunch we continued on to
Madame Tussauds which is something neither of us had visited before & it
was great.
London is as busy, bustling and thriving as
ever with it’s wonderful mix of eclectic characters & sights. The weather
was kind to us which always makes things much nicer and it was lovely to have a
bit of mum & son time. Here’s to the next visit!
BEAUTY, HEALTH & STYLE
Self-Care isn’t selfish!
I spent the first week of June very ill with
a chest & throat infection and it knocked me sideways. I’m not a sickly
person and I can’t remember the last time I was ill but this was something
else. After working far too many hours leading up to it, I forget I’m not as
young as I was when I first started teaching and I have to start thinking about
my own health.
I have always put my heart & soul into
my theatre school and I always will but, working 9am-9pm quite regularly has to
stop. The old cliché ‘You can’t pour from an empty cup’ is so very true and in
hindsight being ill was a bit of a blessing as it’s making me take a big look
at my life and implementing far more self care.
RESTAURANT OF THE MONTH
Norman’s Kirkburton
Norman’s is a new restaurant that has recently opened in Kirkburton, Huddersfield which I’ve been wanting to visit since it opened. What better thing to do then than on a rare free sunny Friday take my mum there for lunch. Normans is a small restaurant & bar specialising in small plates It also boasts a full Gluten Free menu & a full Dairy Free menu. The food is delicious, like a British style Tapas with a twist with plenty of choice. There is additionally an extensive bar menu with a carefully crafted wine list, seasonal cocktails & local beers.
Norman’s is a small independent restaurant and
has a wonderful relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The service and staff are
excellent and it is well worth a visit if you’re in the area.

FILM/TV SHOW OF THE MONTH
Bridgerton
Oh this show is simply stunning. I’ve
recently been implementing Romanticising every aspect of my life &
discovering the joy in the every day & Bridgerton is the epitome of this.
The sets, costumes, lighting, direction and performances are simply stunning,
not to mention the beautiful musical score. True escapism!
BOOK OF THE MONTH
Speak your truth – Fearne Cotton
I regularly read self improvement books and
after reading Fearne’s book I read one of Noor Hibbert’s books. Whilst I
enjoyed & learnt from Noor’s excellent book, Fearne somehow talks to you as
if she’s your friend and it resonates so much more. She’s real, human, interesting
& entertaining, but she also makes so much sense. I can’t wait to read all
her other books.
