A COSY COTTAGE WEEKEND RETREAT IN THE LAKE DISTRICT
The weather this year has been quite dismal & I don’t seem to have done anything but work so far however, knowing I had a weekend break away with my two best friends booked for the end of the month made it much more bearable.
So, on a grey Friday afternoon we were happily packed
and ready to set off for beautiful Kendal in the stunning Lake District, Cumbria.
We arrived at Mirefoot Cottages by early evening and I fell
instantly in love & I also felt myself instantly relax. There are 4
cottages in total in this complex which is perfectly situated approx. 20
minutes from Kendal and around 30 mins from Windermere. Our cottage, The Old
Grain Store, was beautifully renovated to an extremely high standard with a
wonderfully equipped kitchen along with a wonderful ambience. For the first
evening we stayed in, lit the glorious wood burner & prepared our own food
& drink then on the second evening we hired a local chef, recommended by
the owners, who cooked us one of the most delicious meals I’ve ever tasted. He
doesn’t come cheap but if you are staying at this cottage complex I can’t
recommend him more. Plus, by the time you’ve weighed up eating & drinking
out, along with transport costs, it was definitely well worth it and a simply
fabulous experience.
The Mirefoot Cottages complex also boast their own indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, gym & treatment rooms which is a 1-minute walk from the accommodation. You can book a time slot so you have the entire space to yourself which is simply perfect and equipped to the highest spec & most modern of standards.
The cottages are so well situated to visit many
different towns such as Kendall, Windermere, Ambleside and Keswick. Even at
this time of year it is an absolutely stunning part of the world plus its
easier to get around due to there being a lot less tourists.
The cottages each have their own parking space
and boast two stunning bedrooms, en suite bathrooms one with a roll top bath, a
downstairs loo, an exceptionally well equipped kitchen & stunning rural
views along with access to the spa.
A 2 or 3 night break can be booked & prices are approx £750 for 2 nights & £1,150 for 3.
Dogs are welcome, Private dining can be booked
& spa treatments can be booked.
It is an idyllic complex of cottages that I
highly recommend. I will most definitely be returning as soon as I possibly
can.
