A DAY TRIP TO LONDON TO WATCH 'NEWSIES' THE MUSICAL
Having booked
tickets to see Newsies as one of Isabelle & Max’s Christmas gifts, we’ve
been very excited to go for a long time.
As a
family of Musical Theatre lovers, having been a professional dancer myself and
now running my own theatre school, I’ve certainly been exposed to amazing
talent and seen some wonderful productions & performances over the years.
This show for me was right up there with one of the best I have seen & I
would confidently say the male dancers and choreography was the very best I’ve
ever seen.
The whole
production is wonderful from start to finish, including being staged at The
Troubadour Wembley Theatre. The Theatre has a warehouse feel to it and, as you
walk to your seats, you are met by immersive theatre as you feel like you are
walking through the backstreets of NYC in the late 1800’s experiencing where
& how the Newsies would live with the sights & sounds. The theatre
inside is wonderful as wherever you sit you have an amazing view unlike many of
the older theatres.
As the
show begins you are then met by an explosion of energy, talent & pure joy
from start to finish. The staging & set design is outstanding, and the
music is a fabulous mix of large rousing production numbers and poignant ballads.
All the principals are excellent in their roles, but this show really does
belong to the ensemble of male dancers who are quite simply astonishing! The
talent and calibre of dancers in this production along with Matt Cole’s incredible
choreography really does take your breath away and they deserve every standing
ovation & accolade they receive.
Due to
its growing popularity, the run has been extended a few times and is now
running until July… and yes we are looking at booking again.
