LIFESTYLE, LEISURE, PLACES & HOME
Celebrating the Seasons
One thing I appreciate more & more over the years
are the changes of the seasons & the joy each season brings. Monthly
rituals and practices fascinate me and I’m wanting to learn more on how to
bring these healing practices into our home. I’ve just begun reading Sacred
Seasons by Kirsty Gallagher which is a beautiful book and I’m enjoying
developing my mind & bringing these seasonal practices into my life which
give a feeling of harmony & tranquility.
BEAUTY, HEALTH & STYLE
Hot Yoga
I’ve recently been introduced to Hot Yoga by a friend, and I am hooked. I’m very lucky to have a beautiful bespoke Yoga studio ‘Be Yoga Space’ very near my house which specialises in Hot Yoga. It’s the only exercise where I really find I can switch off and take my mind off work and I feel the benefits as soon as I walk in the studio. The heat takes a bit of getting used to at first, but it feels amazing and your muscles feel more supple & stretched instantly compared to a normal yoga class. It’s not an easy class but I feel amazing afterwards.

RESTAURANT OF THE MONTH
La Luna Halifax
This lovely restaurant is situated very near my dance
studio so I often meet friends for lunch before I begin work or go over for
dinner after I finish teaching on a Saturday evening. Delicious Italian
cuisine, a reasonably priced menu & friendly staff.
COCKTAIL OF THE MONTH
Strawberry Daiquiri
As I’m going on a cruise for this years holiday & as
a cruise ship dancer in my 20’s I’ve gone old school this month with a Strawberry
Daiquiri!
Serves 2
Ingredients
500g strawberries hulled
200g ice
100ml rum
Juice of ½ a lime
1-2 tbsp sugar syrup – optional
Strawberry’s to garnish
Method
1. Blend
the strawberries then push the resulting puree through a sieve to remove some
of the seeds. Tip the puree back into the blender & add the ice, rum, sugar
syrup and lime juice. Blend again & divide the mixture between 2 martini
glasses.
2. Garnish
with the strawberry’s and serve immediately
FILM/TV SHOW
OF THE MONTH
The Barbie Movie
Not quite the movie I was expecting, for the better in
some ways and worse in others. It looks stunning and some of the messages it
projects are good but its definitely not a kids movie.
BOOK OF THE MONTH
‘It starts with us’ – Colleen Hoover
The sequel to ‘It ends with us’ which I loved so I
wanted to read this book for the conclusion. It’s not on the same level as ‘It
ends with us’ but it ties up all the loose ends nicely and I loved finding out
how Lily & Atlas’s lives moved on. Not the most gripping book I’ve ever
read but worth a read if you’ve read the first one.
