HELLO JANUARY 2024

FABULOUS THINGS THAT HAPPENED LAST MONTH

1. We had a wonderful family Christmas

2. My latest exam went really well

3. Family time!

4. Time off work

5. A lovely New Years Eve with friends

LIFESTYLE, LEISURE, PLACES & HOME

Hot Yoga

I started Hot Yoga last year but I plan to go weekly in the New Year. One of Tony’s Christmas gifts to me was a 10 week course at ‘Be Yoga Space’ in Skelmanthorpe, Huddersfield and so I’ll be starting 2024 as I mean to go on. The classes are cathartic & really help reduce any stresses & tension. ‘Be Yoga’ is a purpose built Yoga studio with excellent facilities and a lovely ambiance.

BEAUTY, HEALTH & STYLE

 January reset & detox

So as I now move into the year I turn the big 5 0, I’m really determined to live my best life this year & getting my health & fitness in top condition is my first priority. I’ve done a lot of internal work on myself over the past couple of years and, although I don’t lead an unhealthy life, I could certainly work to be fitter & healthier again. Exercise & what goes into your body also lifts your mood & energy levels which, being in perimenopause, I really do need. I want to learn much more about nutrients & the best supplements to take along with drinking much more water. I’ve not been sleeping well at all recently and I think a big health kick will hopefully improve this too.

RESTAURANT OF THE MONTH

Capri, Mirfield

We spent New Years Eve 2023/4 with 2 of our close friends and ate at Capri Mirfield Italian restaurant before ringing in the New Year at their house.

I’ve never eaten here before but have heard lots of good things about it so I was really looking forward to it.

The restaurant opened early 2020 & has gone from strength to strength in a very short space of time. As we drove up, the outside area is very attractive & aesthetically extremely pleasing & the restaurant inside is spacious, modern and inviting. Being New Years Eve it was busy but it doesn’t feel crowded as its so spacious. The service was prompt with friendly staff & the Italian cuisine was delicious and excellent value for money.

We had a lovely evening and will definitely be returning.

FILM/TV SHOW OF THE MONTH

The Gilded Age Series 2

I loved Series 1 but I think I’ve enjoyed series 2 even more & I’m thrilled they’ve commissioned a 3rd series.

The sets & costumes are visually stunning and it really captures this fascinating era.

I’m already watching both series again!

BOOK OF THE MONTH

‘Mum what’s wrong with you?’ Lorraine Candy

Having a teenage daughter who has just started University, a 15 year old son & liking Lorraine Candy’s podcast, I thought this would be a useful book to read, which it was.

The book is a reassuring survivor’s guide to the highs & lows of parenting adolescents, giving lots of tips to keep the bond & connection with your teens.
