LUNCH AT DEVOUR RESTAURANT - HOLMFIRTH, WEST YORKSHIRE
As Tony & I lead busy lives it’s
not often just the two of us get to go out for a meal on our own. I don’t work
Fridays so last week Tony booked the day off so we could go out for lunch. Our
restaurant of choice was the beautiful Devour in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire.
A stunning venue in the picturesque town of Holmfirth, the venue is modern, light and airy with a wonderful atmosphere that transports you to Italy.
The food is all freshly cooked in the
open kitchens along with a Deli so you are able to enjoy some of the wonderful
home cooked pastas along with meats, gelato & fresh coffee’s at home.
The restaurant boasts a delicious menu of starters, entrees & deserts and you really are spoilt for choice.
We were welcomed as we arrived and
taken straight to our table, the service throughout was excellent and the staff
were all very friendly & attentive.
Tony and I shared some of the
delicious freshly baked garlic & rosemary pizza bread to start with which
was mouth wateringly tasty.
Tony then chose the mushroom, ham
& mozzarella pizza & I chose the Belly Pork.
The pizza was as good as you would
expect from an authentic Italian restaurant and my perfectly cooked &
locally sourced Belly Pork came with Gnocchi, borlotti bean ragu, quince jelly
& charred chicory. The flavours were unusual but delicious none the less.
The menu is very varied and has
something for everyone, I was just slightly surprised at how few traditional
pasta dishes were on the menu but, they are trying to step away from the
ordinary & the menu is very fresh & interesting.
We both opted out of desert, much as
I was tempted as the selection sounded absolutely delicious.
The bar has a large selection of
wines & spirits as you would expect and there is a separate bar area at the
entrance for pre or post dinner drinks.
There is also a large outdoor dining area for the Spring & Summer months which, like many restaurants did, they constructed due to social distancing measures brought about by the pandemic but is a lovely addition to the restaurant.
It’s not a cheap menu but not overpriced
and definitely value for money.
Devour is nestled in the beautiful
setting of the picturesque Holme Valley just minutes away from the historic
streets of Holmfirth. Devour sits between the lush woodland and the river
Holme.
Tony & I had a wonderful
afternoon and will most definitely be returning to Devour very soon.
