10 WAYS TO BOOST YOUR ENERGY DURING PERIMENOPAUSE
1. Challenge the perception of Midlife – 50 is the new 40!
It’s never too late to start
something new or pursue your passions so, make that career change, write that
book, climb that mountain – you’re as young as you want to be.
2. Practice Gratitude!
Getting into the habit of practicing
gratitude daily is proven to reduce stress & anxiety, help you sleep better,
lower levels of depression and support heart health. It only has to take a few
minutes in a morning or evening and before long it will be a habit you swear
by.
3. Practice daily self-care!
Finding time to practice self-care
daily is not a luxury it’s a necessity for your well being & health.
Self-care doesn’t have to mean a day in a spa (although this is certainly a
lovely treat now & again) but it can be simple things such as a bubble
bath, reading a book with a cup of coffee in complete peace for half an hour or
your daily walk. Just by finding half an hour completely to yourself each day can
have a huge impact on your physical & mental health.
4. Balance your hormones!
There are many factors to balancing
your hormones during perimenopause which of course begin with a healthy diet,
maintaining a healthy weight & regular exercise. Ensure your diet contains
lots of protein and take care to look after your gut health. Lowering your
sugar intake is of utmost importance and this can begin with trying to cut out
processed sugars and sticking to natural sugars only. Consuming healthy fats,
reducing your stress levels and ensuring high quality sleep by going to bed and
waking at the same time each day are all factors in balancing your hormones.
5. Get outside your comfort zone!
Life begins outside of your comfort
zone or so they say!
Pushing yourself to do new things that are not
within your comfort zone helps with self integrity and gives you a growth
mindset. It can also help reduce regret in the future for the things you didn’t
push yourself to do that you were capable of.
6. Get outdoors!
Spending time in green space &
bringing nature into your every day life. Getting outdoors can benefit both
your physical & mental well being so try & get outside every day.
Regular fresh air improves your mood, improves your physical health, reduces
stress, helps you to be more active, can help you meet & get to know new
people.
7. Find your passions!
Do you remember the activities that
used to make your heart happy? Recall those passions, indulging yourself in
enjoyable activities may revive your sense of meaning in life. Don’t be
hesitant to explore new skills, hobbies, activities & pastimes too.
8. Move more!
It goes without saying the benefits
of moving & exercising daily are huge but there are still many people who
don’t factor exercise into their daily lives. As you get older the importance
of stretching & moving your body is vital for a good life in your later
years so making time to find half an hour a day to exercise is non-negotiable.
9. Find your people & get rid of
toxic people in your life!
There’s nothing more beneficial than
removing toxicity for yourself & your well-being. It is an act of self love
& self worth which becomes increasingly important with age. By removing
people who cause stress & unrest you’re choosing to remove drama in your
life and replace it with stability, calmness and happiness.
10. Have some fun & find or reclaim
your joy!
Celebrate small wins, spend time with
friends & family, go on date nights with your partner or spouse. Do things
that make happy and smile & spend time with people that can make you laugh
until you cry!!
