10 WAYS TO BRIGHTEN SOMEONE’S DAY
SMALL ACTS OF KINDNESS
In a very self-absorbed world, taking just a few minutes out of your day to give someone a random act of kindness can go a long way. In a world with a lot of stress & worry, a random act of kindness could be just the thing that person needs to lift them from a sad, lonely or troublesome place. A random act of kindness helps people restore their faith in others & psychologically, kindness can positively boost your levels of serotonin and dopamine giving you feelings of satisfaction & well-being.
1. BUY A STRANGER, FRIEND, CHILD’S
TEACHER ETC A COFFEE
So simple, not expensive and is
always extremely appreciated.
2. VOLUNTEER, GIVE TIME TO CHARITY,
DONATE TO FOOD BANKS
Charities always welcome donations
& volunteers to help & it’s such a worthwhile thing to do.
3. CALL A FRIEND THAT YOU HAVEN’T SPOKEN
TO IN A WHILE
With today’s busy lifestyle’s weeks
can fly by before you realise you’ve not been in touch with certain friends. A
phone call from a good friend will always be welcomed to let them know you
care.
4. SEND A FRIEND A MESSAGE TO LET THEM
KNOW YOU’RE THINKING OF THEM
If a friend is going through a tough
time or they’ve had some good news, always message them to let them know they’re
in your thoughts.
5. SEND FLOWERS TO A FRIEND
Who doesn’t love receiving flowers
& there’s nothing like flowers to brighten someone’s day.
6. LOOK AFTER YOUR PARENTS
They looked after you when you were
young & now it’s time to do the same for them. You only get one mum &
dad & they deserve your time & care.
7. TALK & INCLUDE SOMEONE WHO LOOKS
LONELY
Always try to include the new person
in the group or the new mum in the playground. A quick hello and starting a
conversation with them breaks the ice for them and makes their day a little bit
brighter.
8. SHOW APPRECIATION TO SOMEONE WHO HAS
HELPED YOU & MEANS A LOT TO YOU
Good friends & family who are there
for you no matter what, know you love them and appreciate them but sometimes
telling them means the world to them.
9. REALLY LISTEN TO A FRIEND IN NEED
So often in conversations people can
be very self-absorbed thinking about what they can say next rather than really
listening. Try not to be that person, especially if they really need someone to
pour their heart out to. Hopefully good friends will do the same to you if you
should ever need it.
10. GIVE SOMEONE A COMPLIMENT
This can either be someone you know,
a stranger or a review of a restaurant or hotel you’ve visited. Paying someone
a compliment can put a smile on their face for the whole day & do wonders
to boost their mood & confidence.
