LIFESTYLE, LEISURE, PLACES & HOME
Welcome to our new Miniature Dachshund Puppy
Frank!!!!!
Oh my! August has been a crazy month as we
welcomed a new family member – a miniature dachshund puppy we’ve called Frank
(Frankie)!
He’s absolutely adorable & such a
friendly little fella who’s settled into our home & lives so well.
He’s friendly, feisty, fun & loveable
and we all adore him – that is except for our 6 year old Cavachon Dora!!!!!
Dora is the sweetest dog, but she definitely took a while to get used to a new puppy in the house and wasn’t the friendliest towards him at first. Frank on the other hand just wanted desperately to be her friend & play with her!!!
However, she is warming towards him more
& more each day. I wouldn’t say she loves him yet but she’s getting used to
him!!
I really had forgotten just how tying a new
puppy is though, I feel like I’ve got a newborn!!!!
He’s been excellent with toilet training
& he sleeps right through at night which is great, but his energy levels
are on another level!!!!
The
first few weeks with a new puppy is always a whirlwind but Frankie seems to be
on another level of whirlwinding!!!!! Luckily, I’m off work for a few weeks in
the summer holidays so I’ve been at home constantly with him but oh my!!! I’m
exhausted!
It will take a while to get to the stage
where we can’t take our eyes off him for a second. One of the main concerns
with Dachshunds is looking after their backs and unfortunately Frank has
absolutely no fear so we’ve got to watch him like a hawk!!!!!
But we’ve completely fallen in love with him
and he immediately became part of our family!
BEAUTY, HEALTH & STYLE
Intermittent Fasting
I want to lose some weight & get
healthier before my ‘big birthday’ in October and I know a few people who have
introduced intermittent fasting into their lives recently & swear by it. I
enjoy a good breakfast, especially if I’m on holiday but a few weeks of not
eating until 12 won’t be a big problem for me really, my only problem will be
having to drink my morning coffee black.
Intermittent fasting works by activating
your bodys natural ability to lose weigh by fasting and only eating between a
specific time. The time period & length of fasting has to work personally
for you but I am fasting from 10pm to 12 noon which fits in with my life &
work schedule.
I’m interested to see how it works for me
and I’m hoping to see the health benefits in a few weeks time.
RESTAURANT OF THE MONTH
Finlay’s Fish Restaurant – Holmfirth
Finlay’s Fish Restaurant has recently re opened in the site that was previously Catch fish restaurant in the picturesque village of Holmfirth, famed for ‘Last of the Summer Wine’. We loved Catch & were very disappointed when it closed down. Fast forward a few months & it has re opened as Finlay’s Fish Restaurant and inside looks exactly the same with no changes to the décor at all. Thus saying, there was nothing wrong with the décor & it just feels like it’s had a re-name & re-brand.
So, one Wednesday evening in August my
brother & I had a much needed catch up at Finlay’s.
The food was just as exceptional as it was
before. I opted for traditional fish & chips which was delicious & my
brother chose the monkfish scampi which he said was beautiful.
The portions are plentiful, and the restaurant
is excellent value for money.
The staff are all friendly & attentive
and we had a lovely evening.
I highly recommend Finlay’s if you’re ever
visiting Holmfirth.

FILM/TV SHOW OF THE MONTH
‘It ends with us’
Having read both the books in this series, ‘It ends with us’ & ‘It starts with us’ I was very excited when I knew they were making a movie of the first book.
My mum, Isabelle & I were all big fans
of the books, so we made sure we were at the cinema on it’s release date.
Blake Lively heads a fabulous cast and we
were gripped from beginning to end. It is based on a highly sensitive subject
and the screen writer & director (Justin Baldoni who also plays Ryle in the
movie) dealt with it very sensitively.
If you’re a fan of the books, the movie is a
must and it is currently playing in cinemas across the UK.
BOOK OF THE MONTH
‘Queen Bee’ Jane Fallon
Having read all of Jane Fallon’s books, I
enjoy them every so often if I’m wanting an easy read & something to switch
off to. This is possibly one of my favourites of hers and was a pleasant listen
on audible during a month of a lot of driving. It won’t set the world on fire,
but it made my journeys more pleasurable!!!!
THIS MONTH I'M LOVING
We can now take our puppy Frank out for
walks!
THIS MONTH I'M NOT LOVING
Back to work & darker evenings!!!!!
